Hi Xav, I was looking at your work on your website and couldn’t understand why, in some of your dish photos, you chop the top and/or bottom of the plates, is this on purpose or accidental? I don’t know why but I like the idea.

Hey, I’m back!
Excuse my lack of posts. If you have been following me on Instagram you’ve seen that I had a crazy busy start of the year, went away for half of January and then came back to a few more crazy busy days.
Some of my readers have asked how I ended up being a photographer and doing what I do full time. So, since we are in this season of reflection, I thought it’d be a good idea to answer to that question with probably the most personal experience I’ve shared since I started writing on this journal.
So it happened, my biggest fear, well one of many but probably the worse and the most embarrassing. I thought that was the end of me, the end of my business and that I would never ever be hired again as a professional food photographer.
I have a mixed feeling for Roma, I loved the city, the architecture, the culture, the language, the light, the history, the mysticism, romanticism and mythology of every corner but all this, at least to me was spoiled by three details that I wasn’t prepared for:
Hey Xav, I consider myself an experienced enthusiast or semi-pro photographer and I’ve been stuck at this stage for a long period. I wanted to know your opinion on this and if you think there any stages or levels of photographers from beginner to pro and how I can make the move to pro?
On day 7 of our 10-day holiday in Italia, we took a day trip to Napoli.
I just finished editing some shots I did for The Box Fit here in Brighton so I thought, what a great opportunity to show them off by answering to some of the more common questions I get asked on the subject.
Is photography becoming a lot more computational and technological? I thought about this recently while waiting to depart at the Thames Water Bus. I overheard a conversation between two photographer friends discussing the resolution on their cameras and how everything can be fixed in Photoshop.
Let’s get straight to the point. My next few posts will be about Italy and the photos I took during our holiday last May. Yes, it’s taken me this long to sort them. But don’t worry, I still have that trip to Mexico from 2015 to sort. soon… maybe… hopefully!
So following up on my update from last week, first of all, I just wanted to make sure you all know I’m well and happy, nothing bad has happened. I also mentioned that Lewis Hamilton shared something about giving up and not finding the point of it all and shutting down completely and that made me think I should write something about it since I’ve been asked a few times how to keep going when nothing seems to work.
I’m still around, alive and well. That’s good news to the few of you that follow this blog and not very good news to the competition but hey!
